The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without quarterback Trevor Lawrence for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings due to a left shoulder injury.
Lawrence was injured during the first half of last weekend’s 28-23 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles when he was hit while diving head-first. This will be the second game Lawrence has missed since the Jaguars drafted him No. 1 overall in 2021.
Mac Jones, acquired by the Jaguars in a trade in March, will start against the Vikings. CJ Beathard, who the Jaguars signed from the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad on Wednesday, will be Jones’ backup.
The question now is whether Lawrence will return for next Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions, or whether the team will give Lawrence another week of rest with Jacksonville’s bye coming up the following week.
The Jaguars have wide receivers Brian Thomas Jr. and Gabe Davis, both of whom were listed as questionable but are now active. Davis is suffering from a shoulder injury and Thomas is suffering from a chest injury.
