Israel has launched a wide-ranging offensive against Syria to wipe out the remaining forces of Assad’s forces. The attack targeted Syria’s weapons stockpile after rebel attacks ousted President Bashar al-Assad. Israeli warplanes and missile ships destroyed Syrian aircraft, naval ships, and weapons depots.
The Israel Defense Forces have launched widespread attacks across Syria over the past two days to wipe out the Assad regime’s remaining weapons.
The Israeli Air Force has carried out about 480 airstrikes targeting most of the country’s strategic weapons stockpile left behind after rebels forced Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad to flee the country.
Approximately 350 of the attacks were carried out by manned aircraft, targeting Syrian military assets such as aircraft, ammunition depots, storage facilities, missiles and radar systems. The Israeli Navy also destroyed several warships anchored at two Syrian military ports. Israeli forces have captured strategic positions in the Golan Heights that were abandoned by the Syrian army.
Israeli officials said the large-scale offensive against Syria was aimed at preventing Assad’s military infrastructure and weapons from being used by extremists and potential enemies. Israel is using the fall of the Assad regime to strengthen its long-term security, as it crushes Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon with devastating force.
