BREAKING: Amazon has announced another Prime Day-esque sales event: Amazon Prime Big Deal Days (aka October Prime Day) will return for the third year in a row. Starting in 2022, Amazon is hosting its second Prime Day each October, giving shoppers a chance to save on everything from everyday items to the latest tech in the lead-up to the holiday season.
Jump straight into the big early shopping sales
Prime Day 2024 literally just happened in July, so it’s natural to feel a little fatigued from all the sales. When it comes to deals, we’re here to help you decide what to grab and what not to buy during Prime Day in October. Our deal-finding pros review each product’s price history data, comb through customer reviews, and consult expert testing from the Good Housekeeping Institute to find deals that are actually worth advertising on only the best products.
Is it really worth shopping on Prime Day in October?
While Amazon hasn’t yet released its official list of October Prime Day sales, the retailer is likely to offer discounts across all categories. Plus, “With the holiday shopping season coming up earlier and earlier, Amazon’s October Prime Day is my favorite time to shop for holiday gifts,” says Jessica Teich, editorial commerce director at GH. “With so many great deals this early in the season, waiting until Black Friday or Cyber Monday seems silly. Plus, shopping now means you don’t have to worry about inventory issues or shipping delays ruining your holidays.”
Last year’s Prime Big Deal Days event saw big markdowns on home and beauty products, including Dyson vacuum cleaners, Samsonite suitcases, and Laneige skincare products, so expect to see similar discounts at Prime Day in October 2024. And if this July’s event is any indication (hint: it usually is), we’d be surprised if we didn’t see some amazing deals on Apple tech products.
When is Prime Day in October?
Prime Big Deal Days 2024 kicks off on Tuesday, October 8 and runs until midnight on Wednesday, October 9. The sale will technically only run for 48 hours, but there are often early bird sales taking place days or even weeks before the event.
Are Prime Big Deal Days the same as Prime Day?
That’s more or less true. Prime Big Deal Days (long name, huh!) have essentially the same structure and purpose as Prime Day in July, giving Amazon Prime members a 48-hour period to browse deals across a variety of categories and brands. The main difference is that Prime Big Deal Days tend to highlight popular holiday items, giving you a chance to check off your holiday shopping list early and get the most sought-after gifts at discounted prices (like tech, TVs, toys, and best-selling beauty products).
