Kansas City – Amas absolute thriller as the Iowa State, the Cougars and Cyclone begin talking about the possible rematch in the Big 12 tournament at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City this week, just after BYU has passed 88-85 Iowa State.
That rematch is happening as BYU scored the fourth-place seeded in the tournament and took the accompanying double-by by looking after Utah 85-74 at Provo last Saturday.
Iowa State supported the end of the contract on Wednesday as they received the No. 5 seed, crushing Cincinnati 76-56 in their second game.

Obviously, the rematch was a hot topic Wednesday afternoon when ISU coach TJ Otzelberger and several players spoke to reporters after a 20-point victory.
Is revenge motivated cyclones?
“We think very high about their program. They play at a very high level,” Otzelberger said of BYU. “They entered our building and won. They did an amazing job. We prepare for a victory that we play for every opponent and every opportunity. We aim to control what we have control and come out for the absolute best tomorrow.”
Junior forward Joshua Jefferson from Las Vegas led the Cyclone with 19 points and eight rebounds against Cincinnati, with center Death Din Jackson from Oakland, California adding 15 rebounds and 10 points.
“BYU is a good program,” Jefferson said. “They came and smacked us in their mouths at the start of the game, so tomorrow they just come out with a sense of urgency and it will help us get it done.”
We prepare for victory that we play with every opponent for every opportunity. We aim to control what we have control and to make sure tomorrow is the absolute best. ”

A few minutes later, in the locker room at Iowa State University – the locker room is open to media members during the Big 12 tournament – Guardnate Highs also downplayed the revenge factor, but admitted on March 4th that the game was not forgotten.
“All tournament games, you’re adding a bit of a bit of motivation, but that last game was obviously crazy about them. Everyone knows that,” Hyz said. “It’s great to see them win tomorrow and come out. I’m excited to play them.”
Of course, Heise was involved in one of the game’s most memorable plays, but not for good reason for the Redshirt Senior in Lake City, Minnesota. His attempted fast break dunk was blocked from behind by Keba Keita of BYU. This reminds me that BYU football fans remember Tyler Orgie’s heroic against Arizona several years ago.
“It’s the postseason, so it’s kind of a new mentality, a new focus, it’s winning tournaments,” Hydes said. “I mean (Block) stuck to me a bit, but now that’s not what I’m thinking.”
The Cyclone would prefer to remember the 29 turnovers they were forced to do and how BYU was holding back the score until Darrin Hall hit a 3-pointer at 13:35 in the first half.
Can they repeat such tough and physical defenses in front of what will become the Pro Iowa crowd in Kansas City on Thursday?
“It was clearly a very unique game and a double overtime game, so I think it would cause another 10 extra minutes of turnover,” Heise says. “But that’s always a goal. One of our goals in defense is to force as much sales, deflection and killing as possible. That’s the real emphasis.”
Sophomore forward Milano Mamaliovic said he hopes BYU will be ready for ISU’s defensive tactics this time.
“I don’t think it’s going to be a 29 this time, but hopefully it helps our attacks move,” said Momcilovic, who along with Tamin Lipsey, created three three-pointers for Bearcats.
Lipsy and Keshon Gilbert left the match Wednesday with injuries. Otzelberger said Lipsey “tweaked” his gro caliber but should be able to play. He said Gilbert’s position was not very clear.
Momcilovic said the cyclone needs a deck with all hands to offset the depth of the BYU. Cougars coach Kevin Young routinely plays 10 or 11 players, but freshman forward canon catching (knees) is daily.
“Obviously they’re really good teams. They beat us in our place, but a lot of teams didn’t do that. Obviously, you can say they’re really hot right now,” Momcilovic said. “And they’re very balanced. They got the driver and there was a big Fella Keita in the middle. He overtook us in the final game, so I think I’m a good matchup with them and I’m excited to get another thriller, hopefully.”
