The Texans will be looking for their first win at AT&T Stadium, where the Cowboys are 0-4 this year. Something has to give, so let’s see what our staff writers have to say about Monday’s game.
Patrick: To be honest, there’s not much to say here. On Monday night, the Cowboys will host the Houston Texans in the Battle of the Texans, hoping to end this season’s losing streak at AT&T Stadium at four straight (five straight losses dating back to January’s postseason) ), but they will have to do without another slugger on defense. Jourdan Lewis is out with a neck injury, and Daron Brand isn’t ready to return just yet (oh, and CeeDee Lamb is currently battling a back injury). But you know who’s coming back? Nico Collins of the Texans is absolutely going to play the Cowboys like this is the Super Bowl, with a team that has a lot of firepower on both sides of the ball and is hungry to avoid a third straight loss. You could analyze it further here, but there’s no point. The Cowboys need to shock the earth with their MASH unit. It’s not impossible, but it’s very unlikely. 31-13, Texans
Tommy: We’ve talked a lot about how football is a scrimmage game and whoever has the advantage there has the advantage in most matchups. To me, this game is pretty even, as both Dallas and Houston’s offenses are struggling in many ways, while their defenses are finding success. If that happens, who has the advantage in skill positions? At this point, I think it’s Houston, with Nico Collins looking to return and Joe Mixon having a bounce-back season with playmakers like Tank Dell and Dalton Schultz on board. I expect the Cowboys’ pass rush to be very successful in this game and keep Dallas on top of it like they did in the first half against the Eagles, but their secondary is one of the best, if not the best, ever. One of the covers will be missing. All-Pros Jordan Lewis and Daron Brand. That doesn’t bode well for Dallas at all, and I think the Texans will end up being pulled away because of that. Texans 34, Cowboys 14
Nick: I was the younger brother since I was little. It’s not fun. No matter what you do, you will always be younger and less experienced. Like this year’s Texans, they’ve gotten bigger and taller, allowing them to outrun their older siblings. But if you look at their recent play, everything has been close. They play better teams and they play teams with worse records. Something tells me this too is close. I think the Cowboys defense is riding a wave like it was last week. The offense will play better – will they have a choice? The crowd will be in a roar as the Texans go to AT&T Stadium for their best chance ever to win. I think the Cowboys are going to make some crazy plays on defense and special teams and figure out a way. My brother is down again…give me 23-19 to the Cowboys.
