Explore integration of HMIS with other HIS portals
India’s Union Health Minister Apurva Chandra has called for the country’s health management information system to be integrated with other health information systems in the public sector.
This is to “reduce the workload of health officials and ensure that data is uploaded in a timely manner and carefully analysed,” he said.
The call came following the release of this year’s India Health Trends, a resource document on manpower and infrastructure within the National Health Mission.
Mumbai University launches AI project to target PCOS and women’s cancers
Mumbai University aims to develop AI models for early detection of diseases in women.
The university is reportedly working with hospitals to form a network that can use patient case studies to build AI models, which could be used to better understand polycystic ovary syndrome in Indian women, for example.
AI models are also being considered to support the diagnosis of breast and cervical cancer.
Beyond the hospital, the university is also exploring partnerships with other higher education institutions and recently signed memoranda of understanding with Purdue University and Saint Louis University, as well as the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, which is currently working on a similar project.
AI course for medical professionals launched
The International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, one of India’s leading AI research institutes, recently launched an online course on AI fundamentals for healthcare professionals.
With over 200 enrolled, the 12-week course aims to equip learners with the skills they need to understand, evaluate and apply AI technologies in clinical practice. Developed in collaboration with the institute’s IHub-Data and the National Academy of Medicine, the AI for Healthcare Professionals course also offers certification.
Cytecare Hospitals digitizes staff training
Cytecare Hospitals, a private surgery and cancer treatment center in Bengaluru, partnered with MedLern to digitize training for its medical staff.
Through the partnership, Cytecare’s training protocols will provide up-to-date learning resources and digital training workflows.
The digitized training program also helped Cytecare recently complete an audit by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers, which ensures the highest levels of safety and quality standards of care in Indian hospitals.
