Jackson Hole, Wyoming is a billionaire hotspot adjacent to Grand Teton National Park. I recently visited this ultra-wealthy mountain town and was amazed by the airport and housing. I never expected to be able to immerse myself in nature so much without sacrificing comfort and luxury.
I grew up in the tri-state area, spent several years in Texas, then moved back to the East Coast and started life in New York City.
That was more than five years ago, and if there’s anything I’ve learned about living in this rough-and-tumble metropolis, it’s that sometimes you need a break.
Enter Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It is a 90-mile-long canyon adjacent to Grand Teton National Park. This part of Teton County, which includes the towns of Jackson, Teton Village, and Wilson, has fewer than 11,000 residents. According to the Economic Policy Institute, the top 1% of these residents earn an average of $16 million a year, 132 times more than the rest of the population, making Jackson Hole the most unequal place in the United States in terms of income. .
It’s essentially a luxurious mountain town where billionaires and celebrities like Kanye West and the Kardashians live hidden away from the fast-paced lifestyles that dominate cities across the United States.
In September, I needed some time away from the bustling city of my hometown, so I visited Wyoming’s wealthy enclave for the first time.
While we got the nature vacation we had hoped for, we were surprised by many aspects of the area, from the luxurious airport to the mountain mansions.
