IIRA Releases Small Business Exit Planning Toolkit
September 19, 2024
MACOMB, Ill. – The Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs (IIRA) at Western Illinois University recently launched a new tool for small business owners.
The Small Business Exit Planning Toolkit is intended to educate small business owners how to plan an exit strategy, how to evaluate how to best design that plan, and how to access resources to help them execute that plan. The toolkit is available for business owners, business development directors, and agricultural operators.
Developing an exit strategy is an ongoing process, and this toolkit is designed to be used until a successful exit. IIRA states that this toolkit is not a substitute for using professional advisors during the exit planning process, and that exiting a small business should not be undertaken by the owner alone. This toolkit helps explain the process and provides suggestions and resources to help small business owners make the right decisions.
