Mainland Chinese social media celebrated a wealthy Chinese woman’s act of revenge against staff at a luxury brand store.
After feeling snubbed by staff at a Louis Vuitton store, the woman described the incident as “the most infuriating thing that has happened to me this year” and returned two months later with 600,000 yuan ($84,000) in cash to get revenge.
According to Sohu, the woman, who uses the pseudonym “xiaomayouren” on social media platform Xiaohongshu, shared an “infuriating” experience she had at Starlight Place shopping centre in the southwestern city of Chongqing in June.
In the first exchange, a woman carrying an Hermes handbag said she had gone to an LV outlet to buy some clothes and that the salesperson had been unkind to her.
They ignored her requests for drinking water and merely pointed to old season clothing while they expected her to see the new arrivals.

When she asked to see some dresses that would fit her, they rolled their eyes and looked annoyed.
After leaving the store, the customer said he called the luxury brand’s “headquarters” but was ignored.
After harboring a grudge for two months, the woman brought a big bag containing 600,000 yuan to the same store, accompanied by her personal assistant and a friend.
They tried on some clothes before telling the salesperson they intended to buy, and the woman then handed him a large bag full of bills to pay with.
After the salesperson spent two hours counting her money, the woman said, “I don’t want to buy it now. I’m going home.”
“After they finished counting the money, I just took the money and walked away. How is it possible that I can buy their products to improve their work performance?” she wrote in Xiaohongshu.
The woman’s story went viral online and garnered widespread praise from netizens.
“This ending is so amazing. I’ve always wondered why these store clerks are so arrogant,” said one online observer.
Meanwhile, another person said: “They sell luxury items, but they’re not luxury items themselves.”

Louis Vuitton’s China office had not responded to The Post’s questions at the time of writing.
Disputes caused by disrespectful salespeople are frequent topics on social media in China.
In 2021, a female customer in eastern China’s Zhejiang Province told media that she had been chased away twice by store staff within 15 minutes when she had sat down to take a break in a high-end cosmetics store.
The woman said she felt discriminated against and insulted because she was wearing casual clothing and no make-up.
After the incident was widely publicized, the store manager apologized to the woman.
