March 21st (UPI) – Printemps, a French luxury retailer, opened its first US store with a grand opening on Wall Street.
On Thursday there was a party studded with ruthless, famous people.
Printemps operates 20 stores in France, including two in Paris, and also has a location in Doha, Qatar. Stores elsewhere have been closed for many years.
New York’s printemps occupies 4,365 square feet on two levels in the 56-storey landmark building, and a 346-foot linear foot-measuring façade facing Broadway. The 1 Wall Street building opened in 1931.
According to its website, the store is open seven days a week from 10am to 7pm.
Like a Parisian store, New York spots offer shoppers an immersive experience with artistically designed rooms for the women, men and shoe departments. However, the company said it would “contribute to a local approach and focus on increasing omnichannel and seamless experiences.”
The high-end French fashion and cooking experience was curated by chef Gregory Gardett, from New York City.
The store mixes fashion and food. It offers a contemporary interpretation of French cuisine classics in five different dining experiences. All-day Cafe Jal, Paris-inspired raw Bar Salon Belt and intimate Red Room Bar offer visitors a variety of dining options. There is also a celebratory champagne bar.
Architect Laura Gonzalez designed intricate hand-drawn details, inspired by French and American designs, L’Officiel reported.
“New York offers a dynamic combination of cultural diversity and global influence, making it a great place to expand your brand and introduce new concepts,” Printemps CEO Jean-Marc Bellaiche said in a press release at the opening of the store. “Printemps New York represents a completely fresh approach. It’s not a department store.”
The retailer first opened in 1864.
