Icelandair and TAP Air Portugal have expanded their long-standing partnership with a codeshare agreement.
The codeshare partnership will go into effect in the coming weeks and will allow airline customers to check their baggage and transfer between the airline’s networks on a single ticket to their final destination.
TAP flies to 90 destinations around the world, including Europe, Africa and South America. Icelandair’s route network spans approximately 60 destinations in Europe and North America.
Both airlines are known for their stopover programs, which offer passengers the opportunity to experience the airline’s home country while traveling between destinations without additional airfare.
Bogi Nils Bogason, CEO of Icelandair, said: Having recently launched service to Lisbon, sharing codes with TAP will significantly improve connectivity for customers of both airlines.
“Customers traveling from Iceland can stop in Lisbon on their way to TAP’s impressive list of destinations. TAP customers can fly to Iceland via Lisbon and beyond to Icelandair’s extensive network. You can go there by plane.”
Luis Rodríguez, Chief Executive Officer of TAP Air Portugal said: “We believe this partnership with Icelandair will enrich the portfolio of travel options and destinations we offer our customers across our network.
“By partnering with Icelandair, we are able to offer seamless air travel to one of the most exciting travel destinations, Iceland, with a comprehensive network of destinations available from our hub in Lisbon. We look forward to working with Icelandair for the benefit of all travel enthusiasts.”
