Last weekend, while I was parked at Ambassador Town Centre waiting to pick up my kids from work, I saw something truly amazing.
In the space of about ten minutes, I saw something happen not once, but three times.
To the three young people who were shopping at Ambassador Town Centre last Sunday, I saw what you did.

Ambassador Town Center Lafayette, Louisiana
Ambassador Town Center is a popular shopping and dining destination in Lafayette, Louisiana, located at the busy intersection of Ambassador Caffery Parkway and Caliste Saloum Road.
Home to major retailers such as Costco, Target and Dick’s Sporting Goods, it’s a great place for shopping.
When you get hungry, there are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat, whether you want a quick bite or a sit-down meal.
Opened in 2016, Ambassador Town Center has it all and is the perfect spot to spend a day in Lafayette.

One of my kids works in the sprawling Ambassador Town Center, so I often drive him to work.
Naturally, as you sit and wait in a parking lot, you meet a lot of people and see a lot of things, both good and bad.
People can do strange things when they think no one is watching.
One of the most common things I see is littering, and unfortunately, I see it more often than you’d expect.
Sometimes you see people driving at dangerous speeds in parking lots.
At times, you may see people getting into heated arguments.
At one point, I saw someone sprint out of the store after clearly stealing something.
That being said, thankfully the negative incidents I have witnessed are not that frequent.
Last weekend I witnessed something that caught my attention, and to my surprise, it happened a total of three times in the space of about 10 minutes.

What I saw was impressive, but equally impressive was the age of the three young people who did this.
Shortly after we pulled into the parking lot, we saw a young couple leave Five Below and walk to their car.
My guess is they were both still in high school.
Once at the car, the young man opened the passenger door for his girlfriend, then walked around to sit in the driver’s seat.
It was a welcome sight and a great display of chivalry and good manners.
What impressed me wasn’t the fact that he held the door for his girlfriend, but rather his age – obviously his parents are doing a very good job of raising their children.

Just a few minutes after witnessing this gracious and welcoming gesture, I noticed another young couple leaving another store and walking to their car.
They looked to be about the same age as the first couple, around teenagers.
To their surprise, when they got to the car, the same thing happened: the young man rushed forward and opened the passenger door for his girlfriend.
Seeing this happen twice in just a few minutes honestly made me smile. It was touching and heartwarming to see teenagers being such gentlemen.
But then a third teenage couple started walking towards their car parked right next to me.
You guessed it, it happened again: Her teenage boyfriend opened the car door for her before getting in himself.

In just 10 minutes, three young people demonstrated their heartwarming manners and kindness to others.
So to the three young people who were at the Ambassador Town Centre last Sunday, I saw what you guys did and it was inspiring.
To the parents of these three young men, you are doing a wonderful job with your sons and we thank you for it.
The kids are fine.
