U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner announced a new Department of Government Efficiency task force at his federal agency on Thursday to “eliminate waste, fraud and abuse.”
Doge said $1.9 billion in HUD money had been recovered as of Friday, with funds misguided during the Biden administration saying “allocated to manage financial services, but no longer needed.” It wasn’t,” he said.
Doge said he teamed up with Turner to release the funds, and is now available for use by the US Treasury Department.
Turner said HUD has launched its own Doge task force to see how agents spend taxpayer money. HUD employees lead the task force on their mission to maximize budgets and efficiency, and report their findings directly to Turner.

“HUD will be done in detail and carefully about all the dollars spent to serve rural, tribal and urban communities. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, we are no longer in business position. Turner said he has established a task force to “maximise government efficiency and productivity” to comply with President Donald Trump’s executive orders.

HUD is responsible for national housing policy and urban development, with programs including affordable housing programs, community development, homeowner support, fair housing and anti-discrimination enforcement, homeless services and affordable Includes housing programs.
Turner said in an announcement Thursday that the Doge task force has already identified more than $260 million in savings.
“We have already identified more than $260 million in savings and there is more to be achieved,” Turner said.
