How to watch
What you need to know
CCSU will be in front of its home fans on Sunday, but developments suggest they may need home court advantage. They will host the Massachusetts Lowell River Hawks at 1 p.m. ET at William H. Detrick Gymnasium. The Blue Devils will walk away with a win, while the River Hawks will stumble from a loss.
CCSU comes into this game after oddsmakers set last week’s over/under as low as 135.5, but it was still ultimately too high. They took the lead Sunday against Binghamton by a score of 64-56.
CCSU pounded the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. Binghamton easily outscored its opponents in that department, giving up just five downs.
Meanwhile, Lowell College’s three-game winning streak finally ran out of luck on Wednesday. They fell just short of St. Louis with a score of 93-90. The close game was even more heartbreaking for the River Hawks, who nearly overcame a 21-point deficit.
Despite the loss, several Lowell College players rose to the challenge and had notable plays. Martin Somerville was probably the best of them all, going 6-for-10 from beyond the arc, with 21 points and two steals. This was a nice turnaround as Somerville struggled to find its footing two weeks ago against Washington. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Morris III, who finished with 13 points and eight rebounds on 6-for-8 at-bats.
With the win, CCSU is back at even 3-3. As for Lowell College, they have lost six straight games since last season, dropping their record to 5 wins and 3 losses.
Sunday’s game is shaping up to be a tight contest. CCSU didn’t give up the ball easily this season, averaging just 9.7 turnovers per game. However, Lowell College’s average score is 14.4 points, so it’s a different story. Given that CCSU has a significant advantage in this area, Lowell will need to find a way to close the gap.
Only CCSU was considerate to its fans last time out, but both teams covered the spread to the delight of bettors. Going forward, Lowell College will be the favorite in this matchup as experts predict Lowell College to win by 3.5 points. This will be the first time this season that CCSU will play at home as an underdog.
