Here’s a list of simple tips and tricks on how to care for your UGGs to keep them in good condition.
Uggs are so cute, but how do you clean them?
If you take proper care of your suede Uggs, they will last for years. If you wear them in snow or mud, they can get dirty quickly. Taking the time to thoroughly clean your Uggs at least twice a year will extend their lifespan and save you money in the long run.
I have Ugg-inspired Dearfoam boots and they had some stains on them so I used distilled white vinegar to clean them. Thanks to these helpful tips, your favorite comfortable boots are looking great again.
Tip: Ugg offers a cleaning kit that includes a brush, cleaner & conditioner, scuff eraser, and protector for $34.99. You can also purchase the cleaner and conditioner separately for $14.95.
How to clean Ugg boots without a kit:
Use a 50/50 mixture of water and distilled white vinegar on a microfiber cloth. Suede erasers are useful for spot cleaning by simply rubbing and brushing the area. You can also use suede cleaner. Spray and wipe with a microfiber cloth. The final step after cleaning is to protect your shoes with Scotchgard. It repels water quickly!
Note: We do not recommend using excess water or harsh soaps or detergents to clean Uggs or suede.
This is what I did to refresh.
There was a stain on the top of my suede Dearfoam boots. I used a solution of half water and half vinegar to remove the stain! The vinegar removes the stains and I am very satisfied! I sprinkled baking soda inside the fur overnight to deodorize it. Finally, I sprayed the suede booth with Scotchgard to further protect it from water and dirt.
I also used the suede cleaner on my daughter’s Uggs and slippers with similar results.
How to clean Uggs or Ugg-like items
1
Use a shoe brush to remove dirt and dust from your boots.
2
Wipe down the boots using vinegar spray or suede cleaner and microfiber. Let it dry.
3
Use the brush on the boots again to fluff the suede to restore fuzz and texture.
4
To eliminate odors, sprinkle a few tablespoons of baking soda on the inside of each boot and let it sit overnight. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove baking soda from the inside of the boots.
5
Spray your boots with Scotchgard to protect them and let them dry. Repeat this every few months.
Additional tips on how to care for your Ugg or Ugg-like suede boots:
How to get stains off your Uggs: If you have stubborn grease or oil stains, try using a little cornstarch on the area. Leave it for a while and then remove it with dust or a vacuum cleaner. Do not apply with a brush.
How to clean the inside of your Ugg: Wipe the inside of the fur lining using a towel dampened with water and a little dish detergent, applying pressure as needed. Rinse the water and wipe the inside clean. Air dry.
How to deodorize the inside of your Uggs: Sprinkle a little baking soda on each boot to eliminate odors. Leave it overnight and vacuum it up.
I would be happy if I could get clean boots that look and smell good!
This is a simple process, but well worth your time. You can use these tips to care for any suede shoe, not just Uggs.
