Koh Samui has a modest international airport with flights from Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and other parts of mainland China. That means there are no direct flights from anywhere in the US
At the time of this writing, there are round-trip tickets from Los Angeles to Koh Samui to Samui, with stopovers in Taipei and Bangkok for around $1,200. If the idea of transferring twice sends trembling to your spine, you can pay an extra $200 to fly United Airlines to Hong Kong before jumping on a Bangkok Airlines flight to Samui. However, be careful. An 11-hour layover in Hong Kong is from 6am to 5pm, but test your patience.
A two-seat flight from New York is about $100 more expensive than comparable LA flights. However, avoiding layover may be a good idea to consider a different destination. At the time of this writing, a one-stop flight from New York to the Samui in early November costs around $7,700 at Cathay Pacific.
