The Giants look poised to add another quarterback this year, even after Russell Wilson agreed to join the team for a year-long Deek worth up to $21 million in one-year Deek on Tuesday.
This was due to the longtime post giant defeating reporter Paul Schwartz, which predicted the Big Blue game plan to take part in the 2025 NFL Draft.
“What does the NFL Draft mean (signed by Russell Wilson)? That means the quarterback is definitely still playing,” Schwartz said.
“Jameis Winston is backing up in the sense that if he signs a one-year contract at the age of 36, he wants him to play this year, but you might want to see it well in the draft. The Giants have three picks.
The Giants prioritized the quarterback position this offseason after the release of starter Daniel Jones in November.
The team pivoted to veterans like Wilson and Aaron Rodgers after chasing after Matthew Stafford.
With the team’s bridges being safer in Wilson and Winston, who agreed to a two-year-to-$8 million agreement last Friday, the issue is:
Miami’s Cam Ward is expected to be number one overall for the Titans, who could leave Sanders, the son of NFL legend Deon Sanders on the board when the Giants are on the clock after the Browns picked second.
Sanders, 23, is considered one of the more polarized outlooks in this year’s draft class, and was at the heart of the controversy earlier this month after appearing in the NFL Scouting Combine, with some teams claiming he is “professional and indifferent.”
Sanders knows how to adjust the noise, but where the Colorado quarterbacks land is a mystery that hasn’t been a month since the 2025 NFL Draft.
“He’s certainly talented, so there are a lot of questions. He put two programs in the actual back and brought them back to the nationally prominent… he’s a rock star, but that’s the first overall choice, as many people think is a comedy.”
“Chedure Sanders can go to Cleveland for second place? Is it possible? Three of them with the Giants. I could see it too, and for a month now, I haven’t thought about it at all.”
According to Schwartz, if the first week rolls into September, Wilson is expected to be the first day starter with Winston taking on the backup role.
Wilson spent the 2024 season with the Steelers, reaching the playoffs.
Pittsburgh, who lost backup Justin Fields to the free agency Jets, is still competing with Aaron Rogers’ services if the future Hall of Fame decides to fit in 2025.
The Giants focused on Tommy DeVito and Drew Locke last season, making it 3-14.
The 2025 NFL Draft begins Thursday, April 24th.
