BOSTON – A death investigation is underway at a luxury apartment building in Boston’s South End.
According to Boston Police, just before 7 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to 390 Harrison Street for a welfare check. A spokesperson for Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden confirmed that a woman’s body was found inside the apartment.
Homicide detectives were also called to the scene, Boston police said. The department said it is “actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident.”
Death investigation at Harris Southend
Police were seen at the apartment complex, known as “The Harris South End,” on Thursday night, and officers were in and out of the building on Friday. The building’s website says it will “offer luxury urban living in the heart of Southend.”
“It’s a very quiet and safe area,” said Michael Giallo, who lives in the building. “When I came down, there were a lot of police outside, and more police.”
It is not yet clear how the woman died. Nearly 20 first responders were called to the scene, according to a police report.
Boston Police Chief Michael Cox said, “Whenever there is a death, there is an investigation, but in some ways this is suspicious.” “I don’t think there’s anything the public should be alarmed about.”
