reason? This 43-unit condo complex was created from a classic revival style Greek temple-like church built in 1926. These raking three wide staircases of granite, four huge limestone pillars, pediments and limestone cornices. It was a Catholic church until around 2004 and converted to housing in 2008.
The Boston Magazine, now owned by the Boston Globe, has recently been named the top location for Cambridge to live in Greater Boston, and this Cambridgeport condo checks all the boxes.

This unit is built into the pediments, and from the living room, wooden doors with glass windows open on the Juliet balcony, with their pillars and egg and dirt molding.
Take the elevator to this 4th floor duplex walkthrough and start with the entrance door that leads to the first open floor plan for the two levels of the home. The upper floor stairs are on the left, but on the way up, the kitchen, dining area and living room come together to create a wonderful environment decorated with cherry floors.

The 185-square-foot kitchen is galley style and makes it an efficient space for family chefs. On the left is a bi-level counter with multiple outlets and sinks. There are three seats on the other side of the counter. On the left is a fridge, a gas range with a microwave over the range, and more counter space. The cabinet is cherry and the backsplash is multicolored mini subway tiles.
The kitchen flows into a dining area defined by circular lighting fixtures hanging from the ceiling. The large black double hanging windows on the exterior walls cast light on the dining table and currently have six seats.

Here’s a reason to stop and gaze. A wooden doorway with a large slab of clear glass opens onto the private deck. It provides an excellent perch for pondering God’s thoughts – or drink coffee in the morning.

The living room completes the open floor plan area. At 400 square feet, along the right side, there are trio windows, all of which can be opened. Adjacent are standalone windows, perfect for potted plants. There is recessed lighting.

It is formed from a bell tower and currently has a 47 square foot windowless office.
The living room passes the doors of Juliet’s balcony and ends with a 35-square-foot half-bus with tiled floors and a single vanity.
At the top level there is a second full bath with a primary suite, laundry wardrobe, a second bedroom and a hallway closet.

The 204-square-foot primary bedroom is on the left side of this level. With carpet, there is a support beam that fills the lights and crosses the ceiling. Natural light comes from a set of three window insets to thick walls.

The two steps lead to a closet formed from the original pediments, making them appear more like a small stage than a calm place for storage. It is 26 feet long and has shelf on both ends.
The primary bus is on the left side of the entry. It is 52 square feet and has one white vanity with a counter. Right below and behind the clear glass door is a shower with a rectangular shower head. The backsplash and floor are mosaic tiles and the walls are tile slabs.
The second bedroom is 166 square feet, with carpeted flooring and black framed windows on the exterior walls. The closet is a standard design with a single door.
The second full bus is 103 square feet and comes with a white porcelain pedestal sink, tile flooring, and a white subway tile back splash and shower/bus combination. Shower splashes are reduced by using a half-glass shower door.
The home comes with a concierge, assigned and transferred underground parking space, private storage space, courtyard, gym and access to a shared roof.
