Sunflower Books and Coffee celebrated its third anniversary in Hancock this past weekend. Launched in December 2021, the store has grown from inventory purchased by current owner Susan Mattila. Mattila had the skeleton of a bookstore in hand, but wanted to expand beyond that. She accepted book donations to increase inventory and continued coffee service from her previous location.
His first job after graduating from high school was in a coffee shop retail store, and he was happy to continue to combine the book and cafe aspects. There is also a bakery and ice cream in the store, so you can enjoy it regardless of the season.
In addition to books, the store also sells gift items such as mugs, postcards, magnets, stuffed animals, and other UP items. Mattila also enjoys showcasing local and regional authors at book readings and signings, and feels very appreciated and appreciated by the community.
