
Gaylord – As winter weather intensifies in northern Michigan, high school winter sports season is beginning to end.
The MHSAA Wrestling playoffs are underway, with teams and individual state finals ongoing in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, hockey, basketball and skiing join wrestlers as soon as the second high school sports season begins to end.
The Gay Road Area team has been taking action all week despite the cold and snowy weather making travel difficult. The results you may have missed are:

Jacobson has earned a career-highest win with rival victory

Gaylord St. Mary completed a two-game regular-season rival sweep from Jobrg on Thursday, earning 64-36 using senior Daniel Jacobson’s career-high performance.
Jacobson scored 42 points and scored six three-pointers in the second half. Nathan O’Connell scored his own 12 points, with Joburg being led by a 10-point performance from Drake Fulton.
The GSM (12-5, 11-4 SVC) is set to close the regular season with inland lakes, forested areas and Perston, while the KOLG (1-18, 1-15) is entitled to the forested areas and inland lakes. I’ll play. Snowbirds will play in the Bellaire Hosted Division 4 district, and Joburg will host its own D3 district.
Gaylord again overturns Petosky and wins a rare season sweep for the Northmen
Over the past 20 years or so, the Gaylord vs. Petosky basketball rivalry has been rather one-sided. The Blue Devil is fighting back now.
Gaylord again defeated Northman on Friday, earning his third victory over Petosky, earning his rival’s unusual regular season sweep in a 65-57 victory on Valentine’s Day.
Connor Faux Creed Gaylord scored 17 points, Grayson Grazier scored 14 points, while Colinpeel scored 13 points. Petosky’s Hayden Janes led all the scorers with 18 points.
GHS has a game where they will face Sault Sege Marie and Bay City John Glenn before the district begins on Monday, February 24th.
Gaylord hockey raps rocky regular season

The regular season concluded with the Gaylord Hockey team.
The GHS experienced injuries, illnesses and everything in between during the rocky season, ending with a 9-1 defeat to the Painsdale Jeffers over the weekend and a 10-4 defeat to Negany.
Eric Olsen and Glady Smith both had one goal and one assist against Negany, while Ben Orsby scored a GHS goal against the Jeffers.
With the regular season over, the Blue Devils are turning their attention to the MHSAA district as they are scheduled to face Cheboygan on Wednesday.
Abraham, Robel is eligible for state skiing
Gaylord is sending two skiers to the MHSAA D2 State Finals at Boyn Highlands on Monday, February 24th. Keaton Abraham and Reina Robell were qualified on Monday at the Boyne Mountain Regional Tournament.
Robel finished third in a total time of 1 minute, 19.12 seconds and 1:20.52 in the huge slalom. Abraham finished fifth in the women’s major Slalom, and finished fourth in the slalom (1:05.33) at 1:13.71.
