Henry Sejude has experienced double vision after bad eyes ended his clash with Son Yadong early this Saturday in his main event at UFC Seattle, and he hopes for a rematch I’m here.
Sejude was stabbed in his eye for 80 seconds remaining in the third round and recovered using a five-minute break. He decided to resume fighting, but Judge Jason Herzog said the round was over, saying, “I can’t see.”
The doctor stopped the match at the start of Roun 4 and went to a technical decision, and the song was awarded victory.
“We wanted to finish the fight,” Sejudo said in a video posted on social media. “Obviously, I got thrust into my eyes with two damn fingers, and I’m usually fine, like when I thrust in. The same reason I was smiling and doing nothing. But after those five minutes of awake I still couldn’t see anything, or I wasn’t seeing anything, I was looking at the double.”
The former two-division UFC champion initially thought he could recover and continue his fight, but his vision never returned to normal. Cejudo said he was handed a 30-day suspension by the local athletic committee after the main event match, hoping that the specialists will once again become “normal” on Sunday. As for the handover of Herzog’s situation, Sejud feels that the song should have been deducted from his foul points.
“And that’s a shame,” Sejude said. “Did you do that on purpose? No. But do you need to have a designated point? 100%, man. I think it’s like basketball with a technical foul. Travelling If that’s still technical. I hope the UFC can allow replays for such things and decide whether the referee is not intentional.
“As a fighter, one of the first things the judges say when they go backwards is that they can’t stick their fingers out like that. And I think the warning is already set before the fight. I was finally sticking out with two fingers. …I might troll this, but the song came and he got that five minute break. It’s a shame.”
“I think there’s probably a lot we can do,” he continued. “And that’s not the song’s fault. I’m not angry with him. But I say this for Jason Herzog. I want to talk to you, man. I am. kicked the ball several times and then it became a spectacular one. Bro, you have to do something. I think the judges can also learn. But I also have to be judged with the UFC. But watch the replay, okay, guy, even if it’s not intentional, there’s still more. You can’t do this yet. Apparently I couldn’t see anymore, so there’s still more songs that started the round. When I did, I still can’t see it, but they say he’s like a zombie with his fingers. That’s so sad, man.”
UFC CEO Dana White said at a postwar press conference that he is not interested in booking an immediate rematch between Bantamweights, whom Cejudo asks him to reconsider.
“Dana White, I know you said you’re not interested in that rematch. Hey, let’s get that back,” Sejude said. “There were still two rounds left. Pace was picking up. He was hurt. Look at my face, look at his face. Hey, we’re discarding it. We’re I think we should turn it back. Dana, I respect you, I hope we can get away from this.”
