A federal judge on Tuesday ordered the Trump administration to recover certain public health webpages and datasets that federal health agencies have recently wiped out from the internet.
The new temporary restraining order from Judge John Bates has become a legal challenge brought on by a group of physicians who said deletion of information is hindering the ability to care for patients.
In his opinion on page 21, Bates said, “It emphasizes the ultimate emphasis on those who suffer harm from the actions of the defendant. Everyday Americans, and the most acute, underprivileged Americans, seeking medical care. There is,” he said.
“If these physicians are unable to provide the care they need (and often within a limited time frame), some individuals will be able to provide the care they need (and often require within a limited time frame), including severe, life-threatening conditions. , you could get treatment,” he said.
He wrote that it was written by a government official.
At a court hearing Monday, Justice Department lawyers defending the administration suggested that the drastic removal of several pages of public health data and guidance could be temporary anyway. They were still reviewing what web pages were covered under those presidential directives.
The judge’s order on Tuesday is narrower than what doctors initially wanted. He ordered the restoration of specific web pages and datasets highlighted in the filing, and then identifies other recently remote resources that doctors rely on so that doctors can restore to their agent’s webpages. We have instructed the parties to cooperate in doing so.
