WASHINGTON — Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign is running ads on platforms frequented by men who like fantasy sports, sports betting, sports news, and video game websites, targeting male voters two weeks before Election Day. We are strengthening our efforts to appeal to the public.
Harris is struggling to appeal to this key group of voters, among whom former President Donald Trump has an advantage.
As part of the campaign’s plan to attract male voters, the vice president’s campaign on Friday ran a series of ads on sports news sites such as DraftKings and Yahoo Sports, and video game sites such as IGN and Fandom. Harris’ is the first campaign to advertise on DraftKings.
In the 30-second spots posted on these websites, former professional basketball star Magic Johnson previews the economic policies of the two candidates, as if previewing a clash between two sports teams. are comparing.
“Let’s dismantle Kamala’s economic plan. She has a plan to cut taxes for over 100 million Americans,” Johnson said. “Now let’s look at the other guy. He’s a failed businessman, plain and simple. Price gouging means paying more for almost everything. Kamala ‘s plan is pro-business, pro-entrepreneur, and pro-America. That’s why I’m supporting Kamala this election, and I hope you’ll do the same.”
Actor Ben Stiller appears in another ad, in which he mentions “Dodgeball, the movie that didn’t win an Academy Award.”
“You know, this election is a lot like dodgeball. Kamala Harris is the average Joe loser and…haha, this is no time to be kidding,” he said. “Did you know? It’s too important. Donald Trump wants to abolish the Constitution. Project 2025 will give him almost unlimited power. We can’t let him get anywhere near the White House. So , vote for Kamala Harris.”
Since Harris entered the race, she has tried to attract men to support her, but Trump continues to outperform male voters.
A recent NBC News poll found that 56% of registered male voters support Trump, with 40% supporting Harris.
President Trump has also targeted ads aimed at male-dominated audiences, including an ad that aired during a football game attacking her on transgender rights.
Harris’ campaign says she is also trying to reach a male demographic on platforms like TikTok and the live-streaming site Twitch. It also partners with several accounts that promote memes, such as dudewithsign and thegoodliars.
The campaign said it also runs ads on sports talk radio, taking advantage of major sporting events such as major college football games, NFL games and prime-time MLB games.
