Seoul, Korea – Han Jong Hee, a senior executive at Samsung Electronics, who was recognized as boosting the company’s television business, died Tuesday, the company said. He was 63 years old.
Han, the co-chief executive who oversaw the company’s home appliance and mobile device business, passed away in the hospital after receiving treatment for a heart attack, Samsung said.
Han joined Samsung in 1988 and spent most of his career in the television sector, during which the company became one of the world’s leading television manufacturers. He was appointed co-chairman and CEO in 2022.
Samsung, one of the world’s largest technology companies, has a dual strength in components to perfect its consumer products. The company had separate CEOs for two major business units. The other is a computer chip. All of this is under the broader leadership of third generation corporate heirs and Chairman Lee Jae-Yong.
Semiconductor CEO Jun Young Hyun will take over Han’s duties as the company’s sole CEO, Samsung said in a regulatory submission.
