Google predicts that by 2025, more consumers will be seeking luxury travel experiences such as spas, hot tubs, and five-star accommodations. Despite potential challenges such as economic uncertainty and concerns about extreme weather, the travel industry is expected to see significant increases in spending and tourism across Europe. .
As Travel Weekly reported, Irish English, a senior industry manager at Google, predicted that by 2025, there will be a boom in luxury travel, with consumers looking for things like spas, Michelin-starred restaurants, and five-star accommodations. We predict that customers will seek out first-class experiences. The predictions, based on Google search data, were announced at Jet2holiday’s annual conference in Cyprus.
Consumers continue to look for value during the holidays, but they’re not just looking for the lowest price. Instead, they’re aiming for a luxurious holiday feel and looking for the best experience within their budget.
Mr English predicts a huge increase in tourism across Europe, with holiday spending expected to increase by 37% between now and 2027. Global in-resort spending is also expected to increase by about 22% over the same period.
Despite his optimistic forecast, Mr English warned of the potential for disruption from economic uncertainty, political unrest, concerns about extreme weather and labor strikes.
Mr English also pointed out that Black Friday is growing in popularity in the UK, with a small peak occurring during the holiday booking season. She encouraged travel agents to use social media and engaging content to connect with customers year-round and foster relationships that can lead to future bookings even outside of peak periods.
