Else Club Desaru Coast embarks on an exciting new chapter, announcing the appointment of a trio of dynamic professionals to lead key departments.
Strategically appointed by Mr. Haris Abdullah, General Manager of Els Club Desaru Coast, Mr. Yong Huang Wee, Mr. Edwin Cech, and Mr. Paul Angell will serve as Director of Agriculture, Director of Sales & Marketing, and Head respectively. I will be working as a golf professional.
The appointment strengthens the club’s commitment to excellence in all aspects of golf and guest experience, raising standards in service, course management and business strategy, and driving strong growth in its five-year plan. Masu.
The new Director of Agriculture, Yong Fan Wee, has 30 years of experience in golf course maintenance. Having been promoted from assistant supervisor to director, he has a deep understanding of managing the course ecosystem. “The opportunity to build on the good work already in place and create a thriving environment for both teams and golfers is truly exciting,” van Wie said.

In his role as Director of Sales and Marketing, Edwin Check will spearhead efforts to attract new customers, secure corporate partnerships, and host events. Previous leadership roles include Director of Sales and Marketing for Nike Golf in Southeast Asia and Head of TaylorMade-Adidas Golf in Malaysia and Singapore.
Recognized for his decisive leadership and proactive approach, he excels in building strong business relationships and implementing effective marketing strategies in competitive markets.
“Joining The Els Club Desaru is a great opportunity to strengthen the club’s profile and services,” said Cech. “The focus will be on creating innovative marketing initiatives that support the club’s goals and strengthen the golf community while building partnerships and connecting existing customers with new entrants.”
Completing the team is Paul Angell, who joins Els Performance Golf Academy as Head Golf Professional and has over 15 years of international coaching experience. A British PGA professional, Paul has honed his skills around the world as a coach in locations as diverse as the UK, Maldives, Malaysia, Indonesia, Portugal and the UAE. His extensive background allows him to offer an experienced and dynamic approach to golf instruction, ensuring students receive world-class instruction tailored to their individual needs.
“Els Performance Golf Academy has a mission to continue to maximize the potential of golfers, and this aligns perfectly with my own principles,” Angell said. “My goal is to create a supportive environment where each student can grow and enjoy the game while improving their skills.”
Under the leadership of General Manager Haris Abdullah, the trio will bring fresh energy and innovative strategies to the club, ensuring Els Club Desaru Coast remains at the forefront of the community.
