The word on the street is that the Genesis G70 is all about electricity. The luxurious sports sedan is expected to be fully overhauled, including a new look and a complete electric powertrain. Here’s what you know about the Genesis G70 EV so far:
Is Genesis launching a G70 EV Sports sedan?
Hyundai’s luxury Genesis brand already offers three fully electric vehicles (EVs). It is a GV60, an electrified GV70 SUV, and an electrified G80 sedan.
This year, it’s all earning important updates, including longer driving range, sophisticated interior and exterior designs, and even luxury.
Genesis hasn’t stopped here. Luxury automakers are making even bigger plans. According to South Korea’s Motorsjason, the luxury sports sedan will be completely redesigned. The report claims that the Next Generation G70 will only be sold as an EV model.
Its launch was finally confirmed after the Kia Stinger GT1 EV project was put on hold. Attention is currently shifting to its sibling, the Genesis G70.
The G70 has been discontinued and the hybrid plans have also been reportedly discarded, but Genesis was able to revive it as an EV and attract young buyers to the brand.
The electric G70 can even acquire a magma performance model. The company’s product planning director said the G70 is an important vehicle for younger buyers to experience the Genesis brand. He explained that the future of the model is being discussed daily at a global level, adding that there is still hope for the G70.
The 2025 Genesis G70, which is 4,685 mm (184.4 inches), measures the Tesla Model 3 (4,720 mm/185.8 inches). However, the electric G70 is expected to be slightly smaller and sporty. The Audi A5 Coupe and Convertible are expected to be cancelled and the gap is filled.
Like the GV90, the upcoming ultra-high-flow electric SUV, the G70 EV, is riding on Hyundai’s new EM platform, replacing current E-GMP.
Genesis is expected to release the GV90 by the end of the year (let’s take a look at this after it was first discovered in Korea). As the G70 EV is still in development, it is unlikely to arrive until 2027 or 2028. Prices are expected to start in Korea at around 70 million won, or just under $50,000.
