Hummels Wharf PA. — The FYE store (For Your Entertainment) at Susquehanna Valley Mall near Selinsgrove is scheduled to close in January.
Employees confirmed Saturday that the store’s last day will be in late January. The store, which sells media such as movies and CDs, as well as pop culture and anime goods, recently began a liquidation sale. The sale currently includes items on sale at 20-50% off.
FYE closed several stores in the United States this year, including one at the Mall at Fox Run in Newington, New Hampshire. Other stores, including Brass Mill Center in Waterbury, Conn., and Chautauqua Mall in Lakewood, N.Y., are also in the process of closing and liquidating.
The FYE store in the former Lycoming Mall in Pennsdale closed in 2018. FYE is reportedly in financial trouble, with previous reports dating back to 2019 detailing losses of up to $50 million in quarterly earnings reports.
FYE currently operates about 200 stores, according to its LinkedIn page. The Albany, New York-based company was founded in 1993. Parent company Trans World Entertainment also owns subsidiary stores Coconut Music & Movies, Sam Goody, and Suncoast Motion Picture Company.
Until around 2014, FYE primarily carried media, but around 2014, the store began to focus on offering more pop culture merchandise.
