Building a watch collection is an expensive effort and can help you know where to start.
From timeless Rolex to six-figure Richard Mill, exclusive watches are often found on the wrists of billionaires. If you know the model, you know. It may seem scary to step into that world. And if you have cash and patience, you can enter their ranks.
But first, you have to do your homework. Craftsmanship, brand history, and resale value are important factors to consider before committing to a purchase. Paul Altieri, founder and CEO of Watch Reseller Bob’s Watches, advises potential buyers to take their time to join the watch community by participating in events and joining online groups and local clubs.
People need to “study models known for their investment potential, such as certain limited editions and pieces from prestigious brands,” says Altieri.
Of course, you can also look to Oracle CTO Larry Ellison to collect Richard Mill’s work, or wear the same model Omega Watch that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos wore into space.
But “remember, gathering luxury watches is a personal journey,” Altieri said.
These are Altieri’s top starter watch picks from luxury brands loved by the wealthy people. All prices cited are from the official website or from the authorized retailer unless otherwise stated.
