Back to school shopping: West Allis Help Center offers free clothes shopping

>> Back to school shopping is underway. A local health center is taking advantage of the cost. We will also be joined by the Executive Director of Father Jean’s Health Center. Tell us more. >> Our mission is to give dignity through clothing to those in need in the Greater Milwaukee area. We accept donations and distribute them for free. >> You guys have been doing this for over 40 years >> We have been client shopping for the past 40 years Going forward, we welcome people to choose clothing for themselves and their families because people know what they and their families like to wear. This is important for back to school because for kids starting a new school year, a new class, the clothes they wear can be uncomfortable and they are also worried about what they will do >> This week we are talking about back to school shopping. On average, families are expected to spend over $800 just to send their children to school. Is that really what it costs? >> It is. We want to help families by easing their burden. We would appreciate it if you would shop with us once every 90 days. If you get your items now, you will be able to come to our store again in November. At that time, we will be worrying about winter items. We are always in need of donations. We appreciate you visiting our resources and looking for clothing. >> If you are at home and want to donate clothing, what are the guidelines? What do we need? >> We basically accept anything that can be worn: shoes, pants, hats, gloves, scarves, belts, handbags, shirts, sweaters, winter coats. Accessories of all kinds. If you >> We are looking for volunteers for a year >> That is exactly what we are saying. We are lucky to have some amazing volunteers who make our work possible. We welcome new volunteers. Father Gene’s Help Center, located near 60th Street and National Avenue in West Allis, offers a free clothes shopping spree once every 90 days. Now that back-to-school shopping season is underway, Father Gene staff say it’s the perfect time to shop for free clothes for students. Father Jean’s Help Center, located near 60th Street and National Avenue in West Allis, offers a free clothes shopping spree once every 90 days, and with back-to-school shopping season now underway, Father Jean staff say it’s the perfect time to stock up on free clothes for students.
