Swiss authorities have reportedly said the former model and Miss Switzerland contest finalist was murdered by her husband and “puréed” in a blender.
Kristina Joksimovic, 38, was found dead at her home in Binningen, near Basel, Switzerland, in February this year.
According to local news station BZ Basel, the man, 41, had his application for release from custody rejected by the Lausanne Federal Court on Wednesday after he reportedly confessed to killing his wife, with whom he has two children.
He admitted to the murder during a crime reconstruction investigation in March and claimed he acted in self-defense after the woman attacked him with a knife, according to the outlet.
BZ Basel said the court’s ruling found Joksimovic had been strangled and that her body had then been dismembered in the laundry room using a jigsaw, knives and garden shears, according to an autopsy report included in the ruling.
He added that parts of the bodies were chopped up using a hand blender, “puréed” and dissolved in a chemical solution.
BZ Basel also said Thomas, who was arrested the day after Joksimovic’s body was discovered, initially told investigators that he discovered her dead and in a panic dismembered her body in the laundry room.
According to German-speaking media outlet Blick, Thomas, a Swiss national, was arrested the day after the body was discovered by a “third party.”
