A Frontier Airlines jet appears to have caught fire after what authorities said was a “hard landing” at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Flight 1326 was arriving from San Diego and was “landing” when smoke was reported in the cockpit and the pilot declared an emergency, Frontier and the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.
Airport officials told CNN that the plane “experienced a hard landing that caused the tires to blow out.” Footage obtained by CNN shows flames underneath the plane and a trail of smoke after it landed.
Clark County Fire Department responded immediately and all passengers and crew members were safely transported to the gate area, airport officials added.
Frontier Airlines said there were 190 passengers and seven crew members on board when the incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. Pacific time.
“The cause of the accident is currently under investigation,” the airline added.
The ground stop at the airport was in place until 7 p.m. Saturday, the FAA said.
The National Transportation Safety Board will also investigate the incident, according to a Saturday statement from the National Transportation Safety Board published in X.
