Five Palm Beach County middle schools are among the top 50 in the state, including one in the top five, according to a new ranking by U.S. News & World Report.
Bak Middle School of the Arts earned the No. 4 spot on the list of the best public middle schools in Florida, up from No. 12 last year.
Four of the five schools in the top 50 are operated by the Palm Beach County School District. Another AD Henderson University School is a public “lab school” operated by Florida Atlantic University on the university’s campus.
Best public middle school in Florida? Doral Technical Academy in Miami-Dade County, according to US News.

No. 4 — Bak Middle School of the Arts, West Palm Beach
No. 15 — AD Henderson University School, Boca Raton
No. 26 — Verde K-8, Boca Raton
No. 32 — Don Estridge High Tech Middle School, Boca Raton
No. 34 — South Intensive Transition School, Boynton Beach
