The 2024 list marks First United Bank’s ninth year in a row. This research and recognition program aims to identify and recognize banks with the best cultures that support employee growth.
This year, 90 banks were ranked among the Best Banks to Work for, based on an anonymous employee survey and a thorough review of the benefits offered, according to a news release. To be considered for participation, banks had to have at least 50 employees and have been in business for at least one year in the United States. SMU trustee and banking industry leader Richard Ware will deliver keynote speech at December graduation ceremony
DALLAS – SMU Trustee Richard Ware II (’68) will be the featured speaker at SMU’s December Commencement Convocation on December 21st. The ceremony, scheduled for 9 a.m. at Moody Coliseum, will be streamed live on https://www.smu. Education/Live.
Mr. Ware is a long-time member of SMU’s Board of Directors and a well-known banker in West Texas. During his tenure as an SMU trustee, he has been known as a friend to students, an advocate for their interests, and served as a mentor and trusted advisor to many. Mr. Ware is the fourth chairman of Amarillo National Bank and has served on the boards of Atmos Energy, Southwest Coca-Cola Bottling, the Texas Business Hall of Fame and numerous foundations and nonprofit organizations in Amarillo.

Ware earned a BBA in Economics with honors from SMU and later earned an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He served three terms on the SMU board for more than 40 years, including as vice president from 2006 to 2008. He is the recipient of the university’s Distinguished Alumni Award and Mustang Award. Ware Commons, a student housing complex on the southeast corner of campus, was named in recognition of a 2013 leadership gift from Ware and his family.
Mr. Ware lives in Amarillo. His daughter, two son triplets, two nieces, and a son-in-law also earned degrees from SMU.
