Starlux and Alaska Airlines – A Strategic Partnership for a Wider Reach
In addition to providing easy connections to joint customers through Alaska’s local airports, Los Angeles and San Francisco serve as Alaska’s primary gateway airports, allowing both airlines to expand their route options and significantly enhance overall connectivity. Since April 2023, Starlux and Alaska have been working closely together on a loyalty program that allows Alaska Mileage Plan members to earn and redeem miles on Starlux flights. Later this year, Starlux CoSmile members will be able to do the same on Alaska flights. While Alaska already sells interline flights with Starlux through alaskaair.com, Starlux and Alaska are pleased to announce the launch of codeshare flights soon this year. This strategic agreement marks Starlux’s first codeshare collaboration and aims to provide a seamless travel experience and flexibility to passengers of both airlines.
“We are excited to welcome STARLUX to Seattle’s local airport, a premier international airline that now serves our major hub,” said Brett Catlin, Alaska Airlines vice president of loyalty, alliances and sales. “Our guests will love flying with STARLUX, which offers world-class service and amenities connecting the West Coast, Taipei and amazing destinations in Asia. We are thrilled to offer our loyal Mileage Plan members another exciting way to travel the world.”
Opening Ceremony
To celebrate this milestone, STARLUX held its first launch event at the SEA Conference Center after the Taipei-Seattle flight landed. The event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, refreshments, gift exchange, and a special Mak Fai Association Drum Show demonstration. Featured speakers included STARLUX CEO Glenn Chai, Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) Director-General Daniel Kuo-ching Chen, Port of Seattle Commissioner Sam Cho, and Alaska Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Harrison.
STARLUX CEO Glenn Chai highlighted the significance of the Seattle expansion, saying, “Seattle is not only our newest destination, but a pivotal milestone in our US expansion strategy. Thanks to our esteemed partner Alaska Airlines, for the first time we can connect passengers from over 100 US cities to Asia Pacific via the West Coast. We are excited to connect continents, expand travel options and provide excellent service to our customers.”
