What’s more fun than a leisurely and romantic stroll through a thrift store? Especially when you find something out of the ordinary. If that sounds like you, today is your lucky day.
Saturday was National Thrift Store Day, so to celebrate Deco went out to the thrift stores.
Amanda Seyfried (Karen Smith): “Get on, loser! We’re going shopping!”
Yes, because National Thrift Store Day is just around the corner, we’re doing just that.
So let’s see what’s good at Goodwill.
Débora Rodriguez: “For thrift lovers from all over the world, this is truly the day to come and check out what’s going on in the stores. It’s a great way to come and find something exciting that’s specific to your style that you would never find anywhere else.”
Shopping at thrift stores is about more than just finding closet essentials.
Deborah Rodriguez: “Recycling is so important because not only do we keep things out of the landfill and extend the life of lesser used items, but it also funds our mission. So when you shop at Goodwill, you’re also giving back to the community and helping to hire and train people with disabilities and other barriers to work here in South Florida.”
Shopping second hand is not only good for the environment, it also helps you build a unique wardrobe.
Deborah Rodriguez: “You’ll find shirts here that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. They might be vintage or retro, really unique. We get items donated that might have been made in someone’s home and we give them a second life here.”
Check it out for yourself. We spoke to a professional recycler.
Jacemerin Chiu: “Every time I come here it’s like a little treasure hunt to see what I can find. Curating my own wardrobe and having it all unique really makes all the difference in the world.”
Come on, show us your fashionable finds.
Jacemerin Chiu: “All of my outfits are thrifted. These boots are from Goodwill, and my skirt and shirt are under $10. That’s another reason why I love shopping at thrift stores; everything is so much more accessible and affordable.”
Many people are shopping in style.
Deborah Rodriguez: “We’re seeing more millennial and Gen Z shoppers get excited about finding unique pieces. I think people should be thrift shopping every day, not just at Thrift Shop Fay, because it’s fun, it’s exciting to see what you find, and you’ll never find the same thing in a unique store. Everything is always different.”
