
The WDA will sport Colton Feller Skies at Des Lacs-Burlington in Basket when Beulah’s Shane Schmidt closes.
Bismarck – Coltonfeller made the most of his final trip to the state basketball tournament. The Des Lacs-Burlington senior averaged 28 points and seven rebounds in three games as he finished fifth in the 2025 NDHSAA Boys Basketball Division A state tournament.
On Saturday, Feller led the Lakers with 28 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and one steal, and was later selected for all tournament teams.
“Knowing Saturday was the last game of my high school career and I wanted to finish on high notes,” Feller said. “So I just got out there and balled out.”
It was a game of Ups and Downs by Des Lacs-Burlington. Because the two teams exchanged the quarter. Ultimately, the Lakers used strong fourth and fourth quarter efforts to close the victory.
Beura jumped out for an early five-point lead after the first quarter, with the Lakers second ahead of the miners 20-10, taking a five-point lead to the half. The miners rebounded from the half, reducing their lead to one point in the third quarter. The fourth belongs to Des Lacs-Burlington, finishing off a 12-point victory over Beulah 23-12.
The Lakers senior wasn’t the only senior who made him feel his presence on Saturday. Jake Schafer scored 17 points and recorded four rebounds, while classmate Jace Crockett added eight points and 10 rebounds. Levon Ducine scored the Lakers with seven points and one rebound.
“We’ve always tried to set a good example for younger children, so they can see how much work and time are spent on reaching your goals and having a successful career,” Feller said when asked about the impact this senior class had on the program.
The Lakers overtook the minor 36-26 and retained a field goal percentage advantage of 52.3% to 32.7%.
The miners were finished in double digits by three players. Braylen Schirado led with 14 points, while Benny Schirado and Tucker Keller scored 12 and 11 points respectively.
The victory led to a 67-58 defeat to the miners from the beginning of the season.
Des Lacs-Burlington finished the season 18-9, with the fifth place finish improving with the eighth place finish a year ago.
