Rain this year kept the activities indoors for the Eden Prairie High School football team and cheerleaders’ annual visit to the Waters of Eden Prairie senior community. Rain cancelled the usual touch football tradition, but the team’s visit wasn’t complete without some friendly competition.
Sydney (pictured left), the Waters Family’s Active Life Manager, maintained the senior living facility’s winning streak against the Eagles by beating EPHS junior Ethan Sather (pictured right) in a hot dog eating contest.
The football players challenged Waters residents to bowling and cornhole games using the Nintendo Wii video game console. There was also shuffleboard, push-ups and a hot dog eating contest held throughout Waters on Friday, Aug. 16. Waters staff won the 2024 hot dog eating contest, maintaining their undefeated record against Eagles football players.
This will be Coach Mike Grant’s 15th visit to Waters for the Eagles football team, and in addition to playing a game, the players and cheerleaders will also spend time talking to residents about a variety of topics.
Rain prevented the football players from competing against Waters Staff this year, but the team is currently practicing in preparation for the 2024 season and will host a free-to-attend preseason controlled scrimmage at Eden Prairie High School’s Airy Stadium from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 24. The Eagles’ first regular season game of the year will be at Buffalo on Thursday, Aug. 29.
