It doesn’t matter if the prepaid gift card is new or only has a partial balance remaining. If you have at least $5, you can redeem it for Amazon Cash using the one-time reload option. The process is very simple and a great way to use your leftover balance.

Prepaid gift cards can be difficult to use in stores. Your card may be declined and you may be subject to transaction fees. One way to avoid these issues is to use a Visa gift card on Amazon instead.
If you’re not ready to buy something yet, that’s okay. You can save credits to Amazon for later use. This simple trick also works for multiple gift cards.
As long as each prepaid gift card has a balance of $5 or more, you can add it to your account to earn Amazon credit. Please note that this process only works for credit card gift cards. Not valid on brand or store specific gift cards.
Once you’re ready, follow these steps for each card.
Get the balance for each card you want to redeem for Amazon credit. Sign in to your Amazon account. Click on this listing for one-time Amazon reload. The amount you reload will be the exact balance on your prepaid gift card. Enter this amount in the “Other” section and add Reload to your cart. Proceed to checkout. Select Add New Card as your payment method and enter your prepaid gift card information. (Please note that you must enter a name on the gift card. Gift cards don’t have names, but I always just enter the name and it works fine.) Reload payments with prepaid gift cards I will do that’s it! You will receive Amazon credit equal to the balance on your Visa gift card.
