The Eagles opened Sunday night in the NFC Championship as 4.5-point favorites over the Commanders. In less than two days, the line had moved to six points.
Does that mean anything for the upcoming rubber match showdown between the division rivals? no. But it will be interesting to see how much of that early money ended up in Philadelphia, to the point where the line almost reached a touchdown.
Meanwhile, the AFC Championship hasn’t moved at all since the Chiefs gave up 1.5 points to the Bills.
The key for the Commander’s Eagles will be Sharpe’s late movement to declare his position. And a lot of that hinges on the truth about Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts’ left knee injury.
The Eagles will say as little as possible. Someone will know the truth. And people with strong financial incentives to know the truth will do so.
Remember last year? Everyone knew Hurts had injured his left knee. Lo and behold, he had braces. However, the Eagles resisted acknowledging that on the injury report.
Eagles coach Nick Sirianni “accidentally” mentioned Hurts earlier this year. He suffered an undisclosed ankle injury.because Sirianni somehow confused one of his most important players with someone else.
Looking back at 2022. Cowboys vs Eagles game line changed dramatically Due to Hurts’ then-unknown shoulder injury, he went from minus-1 to minus-6 in Dallas. (In the end, the Cowboys won by six points, 40-34, without Hurts.)
Hart’s knee is key. The early bet is likely based on the idea that Hearts will be fine. Later in the week, as kickoff approaches, the movement of the line against an underdog team could say more than what the Eagles put on the injury report.
