Walt Disney World and other theme parks in Orlando, Florida, reopened Friday after Hurricane Milton forced to close Wednesday and part of Thursday.
Disney World announced that its theme parks and Disney Springs Shopping Center will remain open Friday and operate on a regular schedule.
“We are grateful to Walt Disney World Resort for weathering the storm. Walt Disney World theme parks and Disney Springs will reopen with scheduled operating hours on Friday, October 11th,” Disney said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to our fellow Floridians affected by this storm.” World said in a statement on its website Thursday afternoon.
Parts of the theme park were open as early as 7:30 a.m. Friday. Disney also announced that guests who were unable to redeem their tickets due to Thursday’s park closures will be given an extension until October 11, 2025.
Universal Orlando and SeaWorld in Orlando also reopened Friday. Flights to and from Orlando International Airport canceled Wednesday, arrivals and departures will resume Thursday and Friday.
Hurricane Milton struck Florida after making landfall on Wednesday. caused at least 16 deaths.
