The Eagles’ 2024 season ended with a big Super Bowl LIX victory. The parade is on Friday, but we wanted to get ahead of the future free agency.
As the Eagles enter the 2025 offseason, they have plenty of questions to answer and try and re-sign some key free agents.
During the season, no one expanded the Howie Roseman, and it was intentional.
“Once you start it, is it like you’re picking your favorite?” Roseman said during the Super Bowl opening night. “And the others start saying, ‘What do you think?’ And they start playing for themselves, in contrast to the team.
“Now we’ve seen that like you do that, it probably costs you in the long run. But if you have the opportunity to compete for a championship, the value of the sacrifice I think is worth it. there is.”
Check out all of the pending free agents for the Eagles this offseason.
attack
Ol Mekhi Becton: When the Eagles signed Becton after the draft, they would have expected him to become a backup swing tackle. After all, that’s the position the original first round pick played with the Jets. However, offensive coordinator Jeff Stoutland temporarily tried to guard Becton when Landon Dickerson missed the start of training camp and Tyler Steen suffered an ankle injury. Becton started 15 of 17 games in the regular season, then started all four playoff games with right guard. Profootballfocus had Becton in 2024 as the 18th security guard in the NFL out of 77 eligible players.
RB Kenny Gainwell: The Eagles drafted Gainwell in the fifth round from Memphis in 2021, and during the Eagles’ career, Gainwell became a favorite of manager Nick Cirianni. He became the RB2 behind three different Pro Bowl running backs: Miles Sanders, D’Andre Swift and Saquon Barkley. Barkley was stubborn this season, when he acquired the ability to become an NFL function. After four years in Philadelphia, Gainwell will have that chance this offseason. Over the course of four years, Gainwell has made over 1,900 scrimmage yards and 13 touchdowns. He also had some big moments in the playoffs.
Ol Fred Johnson: The Eagles signed Johnson to practice teams during the 2022 season, but it wasn’t until 2023 that Johnson really won his spot. Not only did Johnson kick his team out of training camp in 2023, he was rewarded with a two-year contract that is about to run out. In 2024, Johnson played in all games and started six. Johnson started four consecutive games early in Jordan Meertata’s season with a left tackle.
WR Parris Campbell: The former two-round pick spent 2024 training camp as a favorite to make the Eagles’ third receiver, but later traded it for Jahan Dotson. This year, Campbell split his time between a 53-person roster and a practice team. He played five games in the regular season, catching six passes and a touchdown for 30 yards.
Te CJ Uzomah: The Eagles actually released Uzoma before the final cut, but he eventually found his way back to Philadelphia with the training squad, and an active roster. He was in the IR for the Super Bowl.
Ol Jack Driscoll: During the offseason, Driscoll signed with Dolphins, but was released in the final cut and returned to Philadelphia. The Eagles’ fourth pick from 2020 ended the year with an injury reserve after playing 13 games this season.
Ol Nick Gates: The veteran former New York Giants played 96 snaps during the season, of which 68 came in week 18.
WR Britain Covey: (RFA) The Eagles signed Covey as an undrafted rookie after the 2022 Utah State draft. He was their main punt returner for the past three seasons, but struggled to stay on the field in 2024 with neck and shoulder injuries. Covey never ticked his role in the offensive, but averaged 11.3 yards per 11.3 yards in his career. Covey is a restricted free agent, so you’ll need to see if the Eagles will soften him or let him test out a free agency.
OT Le’raven Clark: The veteran offensive tackle was placed in the IR in May, where he spent the entire season. Clark has not played against the Titans since 2022. He played four games with the Eagles in 2021.
defense
LB Zack Baun: The Eagles All-Pro linebacker is a top priority to join this offseason. Four years after the saints, Boun signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract this offseason, one of the biggest surprises of the NFL season. He had 151 tackles, five forced fumbles, 3 1/2 sacks, four passes splits, and intercepts. Boun finished fifth in the annual garrison poll.
De Josh Sweat: The Eagles remake a sweatshop deal to keep him in 2024 when they were willing to shop him in the offseason. The 27-year-old had a huge Super Bowl with eight sacks of this regular season and 15 quarterbacks, with 2 1/2 sacks. Sweat has been with the Eagles since 2018 when he was drafted in the fourth round. Just recently, the sweaty agent switched between agents who drew Rosenhouse for future free agency.
DT Milton Williams: The 2021 third round pick had a big season with a career-high five sacks in the regular season and played two sack games in the Super Bowl Lix. He also had 10 QB hits and seven TFLs. Williams thrived in a one-on-one matchup next to Jalen Carter. Williams managed to sign a considerable deal in the open market.
DB Avonte Maddox: The Eagles began their season with Maddox as a nickel cornerback in their first four games. But back from the goodbye week, they switched to Cooper Dejan with a move that really helped them defend. While Maddox lost his job, he played well for a special team, climbing the Safety Depth Chart, becoming the top backup for safety and nickel. He had the fourth PBU in the Super Bowl.
CB Isaiah Rogers: The Eagles signed Rogers. Rodgers had to sit for the entire 2023 season to violate the NFL gambling policy. Rodgers wasn’t the starter this season, but he still did a lot as the top backup outside the cornerback behind Darius Slay and Quy Nhon Mitchell. Slay is Rogers’ biggest supporter, and he says Rogers could become the starting cornerback.
LS Rick Lovato: The 32-year-old returned to a one-year contract in 2024. Lovato has been with the Eagles since 2016 and has played as the Eagles long snapper in 135 regular season games and 14 playoff games.
De Brandon Graham: No one has played many seasons or games as an Eagle than Graham. The 36-year-old has come to say that in 2024 it will be his final season. He suffered from a torn triceps on November 24th and miraculously returned for Super Bowl LIX. He was not ready to deal with his future after his victory.
LB Oren Burks: The Eagles signed a one-year contract with a veteran linebacker in the offseason. During the regular season, Berks didn’t play much in defense, but had to take over as the starting linebacker in the playoffs after Nacovedine suffered a season-ending torn patellar tendon in the wild card round.
LB Ben Vansumeren: (ERFA) Vansumeren is a major special team contributor and has actually suffered a season-ending knee injury since starting fullback this season. Vansumeren is an exclusive rights free agent, so as long as the Eagles want him back, he will come back.
