Multiple schools throughout DeKalb County are in the state’s top 100.
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Two DeKalb County elementary schools have earned top spots in U.S. News & World Report’s Georgia rankings.
According to the district, annual rankings list Kittredge Magnet School and Wadsworth Magnet School for High Achievers as the No. 1 and No. 2 elementary schools in the state, respectively.
The company believes that great schools educate and enable students from all socio-economic backgrounds to succeed. Students need to develop core competencies in the state curriculum to best prepare them for high school and beyond.
K-8 rankings are based entirely on publicly available U.S. Department of Education data. It focuses on assessing the student’s proficiency in math and reading/language arts, as well as considering the student’s background and overall educational effectiveness. The student-teacher ratio is used to break ties in the overall score.
Lamont Jones, U.S. News & World Report’s education editor, said the 2024 Best Elementary and Middle School rankings are based on parents choosing which school their child attends and how well that institution performs in the community. He said he would provide a way to understand what is going on.
“Easy access to data on student-teacher ratios, district spending, and the number of school counselors available in schools helps parents stay informed and engaged,” Jones said. .
DeKalb County Schools Superintendent Devon Horton said this award is a result of the hard work and dedication of everyone involved.
“It is the collective effort and accomplishments of so many people that we are able to provide workforce education opportunities to every student and proud graduate of DeKalb County Schools,” Horton said.
The two elementary schools in the district weren’t the only ones on the list. Below is a breakdown of district rankings and a link to the complete list.
