After leading Baylor to bowl eligibility, Dave Aranda reportedly plans to stay in Waco for another year.
Aranda is expected to return as the Bears’ head football coach for the 2025 season, according to ESPN’s Dave Wilson and CBS Sports’ Shehan Jeyarajah. Aranda entered the 2024 season facing pressure after Baylor went 3-9 last year.
Aranda led Baylor to a 12-2 mark and a Sugar Bowl victory in his second season with the program, but the team regressed over the next two years. The Bears fixed the issue and secured a bowl berth with a 49-35 win over West Virginia on Saturday.

Baylor University is on a roll with four straight wins after back-to-back losses to BYU and Iowa State. Through 10 games in the 2024 season, Baylor is averaging 35.1 points and 428.6 yards of offense per game. These numbers represent an improvement from 2023, when the Bears averaged 23.1 points and 377.8 yards of offense.
One of the key changes Aranda made in the offseason included replacing offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes with Jake Spavital.
Aranda originally landed at Baylor University in 2020 and took over the program after helping LSU win a national championship. He was considered one of the top defensive coordinators in college football before his promotion to the Big 12. Aranda currently has a 29-29 record in five years in Waco.
