➜ 3. Congratulations to Quinn Starkey of the Watseka boys basketball team and Addison Lucht of the Cisna Park girls basketball team. The pair received the most votes and won the latest “High School Athlete of the Week” contest. Read more about the duo in Monday’s News-Gazette.
Number game: 1,299
Former Illini Nick Allegretti played for the Washington Commanders this season. Or 99.1 percent of the manager’s 1,311 total offensive snaps this season. The 28-year-old left guard, in his first season in Washington, will play in his 20th game since September when the Commanders take on the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday. If the Commanders win, Allegretti will appear in his fourth Super Bowl after winning three games with the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this decade.
