Cybersecurity guru Amit Yoran, 54, a prominent expert in the field who previously worked for the Department of Homeland Security and has spoken on the subject on television, died after a battle with cancer. passed away, his company announced Saturday.
Yolan, described as a “visionary” who took a leave of absence last month, died on Friday, Tenable Holdings, where he was CEO, said in a statement.
“Under his leadership, Tenable achieved significant milestones and inspired each of us with his dedication, passion and commitment to making a difference,” said Bridget, Chief People Officer at Tenable.・Paradise said in a statement. “Amit left an incredible legacy as a visionary, leader, colleague, mentor, brother, father and friend.”

According to CNN, the CEO took time off from work due to illness on December 5th.
Yoran has been CEO of Tenable Holdings since 2016, most notably taking the company public in 2018.
The 54-year-old also served as head of the Department of Homeland Security’s national cybersecurity division in 2003, but resigned a year later, CNN reported.
Yoran, a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, will appear on cable news as a commentator on cybersecurity issues.
According to the media report, he appeared on CNN in March 2023 and commented on the US government’s ban on TikTok.
“He impacted the lives of many people both inside and outside of our company and will be missed,” Tenable said in a statement.
“Please join us as we remember and honor the indelible mark that Amit left on all of us.”
