I’ve shared my holiday gift guide and many people have asked for gift guides with unusual ideas that aren’t the usual kitchen items, clothing, or toys. This list of gift ideas is just that… unique and creative ideas your recipient probably doesn’t already have.
All of these gifts are practical, healthy, and usable, so they don’t need to be on your shelf. Give it as a gift for celebrations such as weddings and birthdays. Additionally, you can also take advantage of the health benefits of these gifts if you live in the same home as the recipient.
Popular unique gift ideas
These are gifts for the hard-to-shop for people on my list. I know they don’t have these yet, but I’m glad you get the health benefits too!
red light therapy
What my mom will receive this year (I hope she doesn’t read this!). Red light therapy, or photobiomodulation, has been shown to improve skin, increase collagen production, and improve mitochondrial function in the body. I use it every day, so I wanted her to experience the benefits as well.
I am using a Joovv combo light. You can get a mini version (pictured here) as an on-the-go wellness benefit or as one of our modular panels. Modular options allow recipients to purchase more panels later for a more full-body experience. Now through December 2nd, save with the biggest discounts of the year with our early Black Friday sale!
LeelaQ Energy Products
You don’t need to understand quantum mechanics to harness its power. LeelaQ provides quantum blocks that help harmonize energy and protect against harmful energies such as 5G and other radiation. They offer a variety of quantum energy products to suit every budget.
You can learn more about the science behind energy medicine from my podcast with the owner of LeelaQ. Leela Quantum Tech’s biggest sale of the year starts now and runs through December 3rd. 25% off on all products and 35% off if customers pay with cryptocurrencies. Use promo code: BLACKFRIDAY
Beekeeper course
Give them new skills and help the planet! Become a Beekeeper Course: This is a great introductory beekeeping course. We will teach you everything from buying bees to harvesting honey. Use code WELLNESS2021 to get 15% off!
Grow your own mushroom logs
You may have heard of mushroom growing kits that come in a box, and these mushrooms come with their own logs. It is said that you can grow organic shiitake mushrooms at home in just 10 days. These mushrooms don’t even need to be environmentally friendly as they are guaranteed to grow.
Each box/log can grow two mushrooms. It’s made by a small business in the United States, and you can also donate a mushroom kit to a classroom of your choice by tagging your harvest on social media.
mini trampoline
Great for the lymphatic system, an easy way to exercise, and just plain fun. A mini trampoline (also known as a rebounder) fits into most homes, and jumping on it is a great daily exercise. Perfect to have in your living room while watching your favorite show, or for a quick brain teaser or exercise break during the day.
Simple and inexpensive, mini trampolines are fun for the kid on your list (or kid at heart)…and good for your health.
flower press and glass frame
Many people like to decorate their homes with fresh flowers, but flowers don’t last very long. But with a wooden flower and plant press, you can preserve nature for years to come. Use on flowers, ferns, leaves, and other foliage.
You can press various plants and arrange them into beautiful displays using this hanging glass frame.
acupressure mat
Recipients can use this gift at home for a few minutes a day to improve sleep, relieve tension, and increase relaxation. This mat has approximately 10,000 pressure points that press against your body to increase blood flow to your back and neck muscles. This helps reduce inflammation and pain while releasing endorphins.
The neck pillow has 1,782 pressure points that reach between the neck and shoulders, and treats tension-type headaches and neck muscle pain from the root. This is what I have and love.
balance chair
Is there someone on your list who works at a desk for part of the day? Many companies have no problem switching their chair to a more ergonomic chair, even if they don’t use a standing workstation. This balance chair is a desk chair that combines a yoga ball and a rolling chair to strengthen your core and counteract the harmful aspects of sitting all the time.
full spectrum solar lamp
For people who suffer from seasonal affective disorder or daytime sleepiness, a solar lamp may be the solution. It has a bright full-spectrum light bulb that recreates daylight even indoors and in winter.
This is what I use to keep my cortisol levels healthy.
trigger point massage tool
Trigger point massage tools look like wands, but are useful for self-massage. Great for reaching hard-to-reach areas and relieving tension in your back. I love using this while watching movies (bonus when sitting in a yoga ball chair!).
cruze bike
This is only recommended for the listed age groups of 5 and under. A new approach to training bikes. There are no training wheels or pedals here, just an ultra-light bike that teaches balance. The best part? Kids can carry, store, and move it themselves.
CSA member
A great way to support local farms and give the gift of fresh vegetables all year round. CSA stands for “Community Supported Agriculture,” which essentially means members share in the farm’s harvest for the year. We have been members of several different CSAs over the years and love them all. Find a CSA near you by searching here for a CSA in your area.
Myobadi
I received one of these as a gift and it’s now one of my favorites. It is basically a combination of percussion massage, myofascial release and infrared heat. It feels like a combination of deep tissue massage and myofascial massage, and I find it very relaxing.
I liked it so much that I asked for a discount for my readers. Get $50 off the Myobuddy Pro2 and $100 off the Myobuddy Pro2+ when you use the code WELLNESSMAMA at this link.
squatting toilet
What could be better than the gift of good posture on the toilet? Squatty Potty has appeared on Shark Tank, been endorsed by many celebrities, and gained popularity with her famous (now banned) unicorn poop video. I made a profit. Our family has had them for years.
My midwife recommended them during my last pregnancy to improve my posture on the toilet and prepare for birth. Combat odors by pairing this gift with a bottle of natural bathroom spray.
Chemex with coffee
I have two rules when it comes to coffee…I don’t drink it every day, and I only drink good coffee. (Unless when you’re camping, there’s something so delicious about that terrible cup of coffee!). My Chemex is one of my favorite ways to make coffee.
Plus, I stick to Four Sigmatic Coffee or Purity Coffee (use code Wellness Mama for 20% off!). Chemex is a cone-shaped glass pour-over coffee maker that produces great coffee with no trace of bitterness or acidity. It looks beautiful and makes me want to drink coffee every day!
home probiotics
Sounds weird, right? It turns out that our homes have microbiomes, just like our guts, mouths, and skin. Many scientists are concerned that we are giving birth and living in such a sterile environment that it is affecting our gut microbiome.
We can improve our gut bacteria in a variety of ways, but just like how I often let my baby play in organic soil, interacting with probiotics in the environment can improve skin and gut health. It can also support your internal microbiome. There’s also some evidence that these beneficial bacteria can help prevent mold and odors in your home. That’s why I spray my house with a home probiotic called Homebiotic. Even the super picky person on your list might love this quirky gift.
sauna
It’s not cheap, so it’s a gift you only want to buy for someone you truly love. There are so many benefits to using a sauna every day, and the easiest way to achieve it is with a sauna at home. We have a 2-person Clearlight Sauna in our house, and I love it because it’s a “quiet box” where I can work up a sweat, listen to a podcast, or just get a few minutes. Black Friday sale is currently underway!
If you want something more portable and much cheaper (but still fully functional), a sauna blanket could be the perfect solution. This sauna blanket from Bon Charge is thin enough to store under your bed and has very low EMF emissions. I also like the Higher Dose sauna blanket and have given it as a gift before.
Right now, use code BFCM to get 20% off the High Dose Sauna Blanket on Black Friday.
puzzle box
These beautiful Japanese puzzle boxes are a unique way for older children and adults to safely store valuable items while making learning fun. They are handmade and require creativity and problem solving to operate.
You can also give them a money maze puzzle box with cash inside. This way, in addition to the fun of puzzles, they can get cash to get whatever they want. Much better than a card with cash in it.
personalized photo book
Every year, I create a photo book for each child with special memories from the past year. They always look forward to their unique memory books. I think I’ll try making it for my parents too.
My favorites are from Mixbooks. Customize design and size, choose hardcover or layflat options. Capture memories of special trips and events in a photo book that your recipient will cherish. Through November 25, 2024, use code PAGEGIFT to save up to 50% off almost everything.
