COZUMEL, Colo. — Cozumel welcomed the first visit by the ultra-luxury cruise ship MSC Explorer I. The luxury liner docked at the island on Friday during its first voyage through the Western Caribbean.
Flying the Maltese flag, the ship can accommodate 900 passengers divided into 461 suites with sea views. The ship docked at the Punta Langosta International Cruise Terminal on Friday as part of its itinerary.
Cozumel Mayor Jose Luis Chacón Méndez met with the ship’s captain, Pietro Sinisi. “During my 30-year career, I have had the opportunity to visit many destinations, but Cozumel is definitely one of the best due to the warmth of its people and unparalleled natural beauty.” Shinisi said.
