Could the Tennessee Titans, who own the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, upset the draft by passing on a quarterback? The New York Giants, in need of a quarterback, may need to pay close attention over the next three months.
The Titans recently hired Mike Borgonzi as general manager to replace Ran Carson. Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker said in a press conference Wednesday that the team is “not passing on a generational talent” with the No. 1 overall pick.
Does anyone consider Miami’s Cam Ward or Colorado’s Shedule Sanders, the top quarterbacks in what is considered a weak quarterback class, to be generational players? Probably not.
One player considered perhaps a generational talent is Colorado’s two-way star Travis Hunter, who won the Heisman Trophy while playing full-time at both cornerback and wide receiver.
Borgonzi said the Titans are “in the early stages of discussions” about what to do with the No. 1 overall pick.
If the Titans aren’t interested in a quarterback, will the pick be on sale? perhaps.
“That’s always the goal: get as many picks in the top 100 as possible,” Borgonzi said. “I approach this issue with an open mind. We will evaluate all the circumstances and make the best decision at our disposal.”
Understanding what the two teams that drafted him before the Giants, the Titans and Cleveland Browns, want to do is a major part of Giants GM Joe Schon’s calculations in the coming months.
It’ll be interesting to watch in a year where many teams are in need of a quarterback but few have gotten draft analysts excited.
